Addressing media persons after clearing the proposals, Finance Minister A. K. Walia disclosed that the Jwalaheri-Bhera Enclave intersection on Outer Ring Road would be made signal-free. The EFC has sanctioned Rs. 54.66 crores for the project that is likely to be completed within 30 months of award of the work. The project would entail construction of an underpass and two foot-over bridges (FOBs). Dr. Walia said the underpass and the FOBs would help ensure a smooth flow for traffic as well as give relief to the pedestrians who often have to cross the road while risking their lives. In addition, it would save valuable time for the motorists. The project would get completed before the Commonwealth Games in 2010. Another project worth Rs. 83.66 crores has been cleared by the EFC for undertaking additional works at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, which is attached to Gobind Ballabh Pant Hospital in Central Delhi, to make it an institution of international standard. The works includes ensuring water supply from Ghittorni in South Delhi, procuring UPS for medical equipment, constructing modular operation theatres, installing solar water heating system and making a new cafeteria block. Further, Rs. 1.55 crores and Rs. 1.29 crores have been sanctioned for construction of Government dispensary or health centres in Pocket A-2 Phase-I and Pocket B, Phase-II at Madanpur Khadar in South Delhi. Dr. Walia said the new dispensaries would take health care facilities to the doorstep of the rural people. The EFC has also cleared projects for construction of a family court building at Saket for which Rs. 1.33 crores has been sanctioned and construction of residential quarters for judicial officers at Sector-19 Dwarka (project worth Rs. 27 crores). A water body inside Bapu Park at Mongolpuri in North-West Delhi would also be developed.
