Record gypsum unloading

The city port has established an all time record in unloading of gypsum in bulk in a day.

A quantity of 23,775 tonnes of gypsum was discharged in a day on Wednesday from the vessel m.v. Super Tec at EQ-9 berth surpassing the previous discharge of 22,024 tonnes last year from the vessel m.v. K.S. Glory.

The cargo was imported by the Associated Cement Companies Ltd., New Delhi. Sea Port Logistics Private Ltd. were the stevedores and Sea Port Private Ltd. were the steamer agents for m.v. Super Tec.

Plan chalked out

for poll victory

A meeting of the Election Preparatory Committee seeking victory for V.V. Rama Rao, AITUC State president and CPI State secretariat member, from the Graduates Constituency in north Andhra districts was held at the Visakhapatnam Port and Dock Workers' Union office here on Thursday evening. An action plan was chalked out.

As a part of it, mandal-level meetings will be held. Mr. Rama Rao presided over the meeting.

Gyan Vani

Gyan Vani, the FM education channel, will broadcast a phone-in programme from 7 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Saturday with D. Harinarayana, in charge director of the School of Distance Education of AU on the courses offered by the school.

Callers can ring 2568651 or 2568652 to seek information or clarify their doubts, said station manager of Gyan Vani in a press release.

The programme will be broadcast on 106.4 MHz.
