Woman dies in fire

CHENNAI : The body of a 23-year-old woman was retrieved from a hutment, which caught fire on Thursday evening.

According to fire and rescue service personnel, the control room received a fire call at around 3.30 p.m. that some hutments on Thirukumarapuram Illankali Amman Koil Street in Choolaimedu police station limits caught fire. Vehicles were pressed from Ashok Nagar and Koyambedu fire stations.

Within 30 minutes, the fire was put out and the body was taken out. The victim is yet to be identified, they said. Further investigation is on.
