CHENNAI: The 53rd edition of the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF), which began in Chennai, showcases Nepal as a promising international tourist destination. The three-day travel mart held at the Rajah Muthiah and Rani Meyammai halls from January 19 to 21 was inaugurated by N. Suresh Rajan, State Tourism Minister. While Tamil Nadu played host to the TTF in Chennai with the Department of Tourism supporting the event, the other participating States and Union Territories include Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Gujarat and Puducherry. The overseas participants include, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Hong Kong and Nepal. Air Deccan and Air Arabia are the participating airlines. Addressing a news conference, Sanjiv Agarwal, chairman and managing director of Fairfest Media, the organiser of the TTF, said it had introduced the international section to address the growing number of global participation. Every year the response to the Chennai travel mart had been increasing. Mr. Agarwal said the concept of e-ticketing had only stimulated the sector and had not made any negative impact in holding such travel marts. There is no entrance fee. More than 130 stalls are featuring the rich and varied cultural heritage of various States.
