Court allows Kalaivani to go with parents

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has permitted R. Kalaivani (17), daughter of AIADMK MLA L. Ravichandran, to go with her parents.

Pursuant to a habeas corpus petition filed by the MLA, alleging that her daughter was kidnapped by a party worker, P. Sivakumar, the girl was produced before a Division Bench comprising Justice P.K. Misra and Justice K. Mohanram on Friday.

Ms. Kalaivani told the Judges that she had voluntarily gone with Mr. Sivakumar, and that she would like to stay with her parents. Recording her submissions, the Judges closed the petition.

Threat

Earlier, P.H. Manoj Pandian, counsel for the petitioner, apprehended threat to the life of the girl while she was under the illegal custody of Mr. Sivakumar.

Since she was a minor as established by her school records, she must be sent with the parents, who are her natural guardians, he said.
