Motorcyclist waylaid, robbed

Staff Reporter

Culprits adopted the same method employed in last week's incidents

CHENNAI : In a daring incident on Thursday night, four miscreants waylaid the manager of a chocolate distribution company on St. Mary's Road, Abhiramapuram and robbed him of Rs.3.40 lakh.

According to police, the miscreants adopted a method similar to the one adopted in two other incidents reported from T. Nagar and Nungambakkam last week.

The police said Muthukrishnan (34), was returning home by motorcycle after collecting cash from retail outlets. Around 9. 30 p.m. four persons, on two motorcycles, stopped him on St. Mary's Road and abused him, saying his vehicle had struck their vehicles.

Mr. Muthukrishnan contested it. Then one of the four brandished a knife and took away the cash bag. After pushing the victim down, the four youths escaped.

A case of robbery has been registered by police.
