City band goes international

CHENNAI: Chennai band Junkyard Groove has just gone international. Come March, they will be opening for Iron Maiden, Prodigy and metal band Children of Bodom among others at the Desert Rock Festival (DRF), Dubai.

The band, which has funk, rock and jazz roots, entered an international competition `Shamal 2006', held to find the best, unsigned talent in and around the Middle East for the DRF. Bombay band Pindrop Violence was the only other Indian band in the eight finalists. They came in second. The DRF 2007 will be held on March 9-10. Log on to desertrock.festival.com for more details.
