Hacking monitoring site hacked

K. Srinivas Reddy

HYDERABAD: Hackers from West Asia pulled off a coup when they defaced the homepage of zone-h.org, a website known for archiving and monitoring the hacking activity.

The defacement did not appear to be politically motivated, but the Saudi Arabian hackers left a message with a four-letter word pointing out that the security of the website was bypassed. The site was not repaired till Tuesday night.

Zone-h.org is a popular website, which is visited by hackers and security experts alike to keep track of the website hacking activity across the globe. The site maintains a large database of defaced websites and the browser can have a look at the defaced sites on its mirror.

The defacement comes in the backdrop of warnings from analysts that cyber attacks such as defacement of websites and denial of service are likely to increase in view of the developments in West Asia.
