A special event called `Punnagai'
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI
: About 350 differently abled children sang, danced, painted and acted at a cultural show recently organised by the Rotary Club of Akash.
The programme aptly titled `Punnagai', which means smile, brought cheers to the children, who wore make-up and colourful costumes for their performances. Every child was given a gift at the end of the event.
Several institutions, including Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu, Guild of Service, Red Cross Society and MGR School for the Hearing Impaired, participated. Teachers and parents who came to applaud said their wards were delighted at the opportunity to display their talents. The show was also an enriching experience for the young organisers of the show.
Manoj Koundinya, International Service Director, Rotaract Club of Akash and Manikandan, Secretary, said that the joy of the children brought deep satisfaction to the team.
Corporate firms such as Delphi TVS Limted, TCS and Ashok Leyland supported the programme, held at MGR Janaki College for Women.
