TN in last four

GUWAHATI: Tamil Nadu entered the semifinals after a goalless draw with Maharashtra in the men's football event of the 33rd National Games on Tuesday.

With TN and Maharashtra being tied at four points each, Tamil Nadu got the nod because of its better goal average (-1) than Maharashtra's (-2).

The results: Football: Men: Maharashtra 0 drew with Tamil Nadu 0; Meghalaya 4 (Muana Ralte,Birender Thapa, Lekini Suting, Lal Dingliana) bt Haryana 0; Punjab 1 (Balraj Singh) drew with West Bengal 1 (Snehasish Chakraborty); Assam 2 (Sanjeeva Rongpi, Mrinal Boro) drew with Kerala 2 (Jacson Sebastian, Rajesh Kumar).

Women: Orissa 5 (Sukumati Lagori 3, Sarita Behera 2) bt Tamil Nadu 1 (Rani Prasanna Jayakumar); Manipur 1 (BembemDevi Maibam) bt Assam 0. — Sports Reporter
