CHENNAI: Two persons boarded an Air France flight here on Friday using fake Immigration Departure seal. The flight also took off without getting the mandatory signature of Immigration and Customs authorities in the General Declaration form. Sources said the two passengers one of them identified as Ahmed Maroof Ahmed Ameen and the other, who travelled in the name of Kiran Kumar used a fake Immigration Departure seal. They bypassed Immigration officials and boarded the flight. As per the rules, the Station Managers of all the international flights must obtain signature from the Immigration and Customs authorities in the General Declaration, which included passenger and cargo manifest before their aircraft took off. Yet, the Air France flight took off around 3.20 a.m. without getting the signatures in these three important documents from the Immigration and Customs authorities. When they came to know of the violation, the authorities alerted their counterparts in France. Both the passengers were detained at the Paris airport. They were being deported to Chennai, said an Immigration source. C. Rajan, Customs Commissioner, Airport, said as per Section 42 of the Customs Act, "No conveyance to leave without written order." So the Customs officials summoned Air France's Station Manager Suresh Antony and asked him to provide an explanation for the aircraft leaving without the clearance.
