`Snoring could pose serious health risk'

Oxygen supply gets decreased during snoring due to an obstruction of the airway

HYDERABAD: Snoring which manifests during sleep apnoea, a common form of sleep disorder, could pose a serious health hazard. Heart attack, stroke, uncontrolled blood pressure and diabetes are impacted by uncorrected sleep apnoea, experts warn.

Addressing a press conference in connection with the launch of an advanced sleep medicine department at Apollo Hospitals, here, Prakash Reddy, sleep medicine specialist from the US, Prathap C.Reddy, Executive Chairman of the hospital group, said the oxygen supply gets decreased during snoring due to an obstruction of the airway. This in turn would affect brain, heart, lungs and other organs.
