Credit plan for RR district launched

District doing well in Rajiv Gruha Kalpa, Indiramma schemes


  • Priority sector gets Rs. 1,719.10 crores
  • Lending bar raised for self-help groups

    Hyderabad: The 19th annual credit plan of Ranga Reddy district for 2007-08 with an outlay of Rs. 1,867.76 crores was launched on Monday by the State Bank of Hyderabad, the district lead bank.

    The priority sector gets an outlay of Rs. 1,719.10 crores which is higher by Rs. 158.39 crores than last year.

    Agricultural loans

    The sector-wise allocation includes Rs. 372.60 crores for agricultural crop loan and Rs. 261.73 crores for agricultural term loan.

    The allocation for non-farm sector is Rs.358.49 crores, other priority sector Rs. 726.25 crores and non-priority sector Rs. 148.66 crores.

    Plea to bankers

    District Collector L. Premachandra Reddy, who launched the credit plan, appealed to bankers to keep in mind poverty alleviation and employment generation schemes and reach the poor in villages. Ranga Reddy district was in for a milk revolution as there was a good potential. The farmers were able to cater to the needs of one crore people in and around Hyderabad, Mr. Premachandra Reddy said.

    Proposal to Centre

    He said a Rs. 15-crore proposal was sent to the Government of India for establishment of artificial insemination centres in all villages in association with the renowned NGO - BAIF.

    He urged the bankers to be liberal in extending loans to the farmers. The district was doing well in respect of Rajiv Gruha Kalpa and Indiramma schemes, the Collector said and asked the banks to advance loans under the schemes.

    M. Sudhir, General Manager (P&D), SBH, said the State-Level Bankers Committee had increased the ceiling of lending for the self-help groups in view of their good performance and recovery.
