Power shutdown

CHENNAI : Power supply will be suspended in the following areas on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work. J. J. Nagar: Nolambur, Padi, Anna Nagar west, Adayalampattu, GG Nagar;

Guindy area: Guindy Industrial estate, Anna Salai, Kathipara, Ekkaduthangal tiny sector; Chintadripet area: SM Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Indira Gandhi Nagar.

ATM opened

The State Bank of Mysore opened its networked Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at its main branch in the city (Parry's Corner) on Thursday. T. R. Pachamuthu, founder-Chancellor of SRM University, inaugurated the ATM. Deputy General Manager T. S. Krishnamurthy presided over the function.

Shifting of phone lines

BSNL Chennai Telephones will shift around 1,000 telephone connections parented to the St. Thomas Mount exchange and starting with 2231, 2232, 2233 and 2234 to the new OCB exchange (Level 2267) at Thillai Ganga Nagar. The lines are serving parts of Thillai Ganga Nagar, Nanganallur and Adambakkam. The transfer to the new exchange will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday. The new exchange will have a capacity of 2,000 lines.

A release said the subscribers need to reactivate phone plus services and re-register their password for STD/ISD.

Career guidance seminar

Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering at Manimangalam near Tambaram will organise a free career guidance seminar for Plus-II students on May 11.

The seminar will be held at the new admission office of DCE (ICIT Computer Education), 32, Duraisamy Pillai Street, West Tambaram. It will be held between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. For details: 98411-55653 / 4315 9146.

Free yoga classes

Sannyasi Krishnayogam will conduct a month-long free yoga classes for men and women at Satyananda Yogas Centre in Bala Vidya Higher Secondary School, 30, Vasudevapuram, West Mambalam from May 6. The classes will be held from 5.30 a.m. to 7.30 a.m. and are aimed at physical, mental and spiritual health, according to a press release.

The North American Business Institute (NABI) will host a seminar on opportunities for students to pursue postgraduate courses in Canada.
