NEW DELHI : A team of the Crime Branch of the Delhi police is going to Hyderabad to join the interrogation of Rasheed, alleged kingpin of the human smuggling racket, who surrendered before the police there on Thursday. The police will also seek his custody in connection with a similar case allegedly involving Bharatiya Janata Party member of Parliament Babubhai Katara here. Rasheed's name figured in the case following the arrest of Sunder Lal Yadav, Rajender Kumar Gampa and Kiran Dhar. During interrogation, Sunder Lal purportedly disclosed that he introduced Rasheed and another travel agent to three MPs. The police have so far not come across any evidence establishing that Rasheed met or was in contact with Mr. Katara. But Mr. Katara's contact man Rajender got in touch with Rasheed through two middlemen, who are still absconding. Sunder Lal Yadav disclosed that he was introduced to Rasheed by Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief's secretary, whose name he could not recall. Rasheed allegedly paid Sunder Lal Yadav Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh every time he introduced the former to a legislator.
