MYSORE: Close on the heels of the collapse of a portion of the roof of the Central Storage Reservoir at Vijayanagar here, the collapse of a portion of the roof of another reservoir, Yadavagiri High-level Reservoir (HLR), has come to light. Though it is suspected that the concrete roof might have collapsed three days ago, Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) of the city corporation, which looks after drinking water supply in the city, kept the matter under wraps fearing public criticism.
Disrupted
According to residents of the area, water supply to the locality had been disrupted for the past three days, which they said, could be linked to the incident. The matter came to their notice when workers were repairing the collapsed portion on Wednesday. A team from Mysore Grahakara Parishat and Dr Ajay Memorial Drinking Water Foundation, which rushed to Yadavagiri, said that it found workers constructing brick walls around the collapsed portion of the roof and placing asbestos sheets on it with the support of wooden poles. According to the team, the repair methods would cause more pressure on the reservoir.
