Youth workshop

Eyes, a non-profit organisation, and People First Consultants, a human resource and training company, will organise a free workshop for youngsters next month. Titled `Choosing Success,' the workshop is aimed at creating leaders from among youngsters. Participants will be taught techniques to build inner strength and behavioural tips to be successful in society. The Tamil version of the workshop will be conducted on June 1, 2 and 3 while the workshop in English will be held on June 15, 16, and 17.

Seminar

The Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will organise a seminar on `Kobtsu Kaizen - TPM for Profit' on Saturday as part of its Japanese Management Technique Seminar series. The seminar will be held at 21, K.B Dasan Road, Teynampet, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. There will be no registration fee but candidates need to register in advance, according to a press release. Water resources day

The Tamilnadu State Centre of the Institution of Engineers observes Water Resources Day in May every year. This year the organisation has chosen `Peoples' Participation in Conservation of Water Resources and Preservation of its Quality' as the theme, a press release said. Metrowater Chief Engineer V. Sivakumaran will deliver a special lecture on May 24 at 19, Swami Sivananda Salai in Chepauk at 6 p.m.

Meditation class

Free meditation class will be conducted for children in the age group of 10-15. P.S. Lalitha will conduct the classes at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre on 22, Bawa Street in Alwarpet on May 26. For details, contact 24662777/24984949.

Autorickshaws impounded

Transport department officials impounded 196 autorickshaws on Wednesday. More than 100 were detained for plying without recalibration of the fare meter and 71 autos were impounded for not having the official seal on the recalibrated meters. Ten vehicles were detained for plying without valid documents. The department has been conducting checking operations ever since the deadline for recalibrating fare meter expired on May 21. Already 93 autorickshaws have been impounded for non-recalibration of fare meters, according to a press release.
