Amitabh challenges Allahabad HC

Lucknow: Amitabh Bachchan moved the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday challenging an order cancelling the allotment of farmland to him in Barabanki district saying the court had exceeded its jurisdiction.

The petition, which was filed in the registry of the Lucknow Bench of the court, came two days after Chief Minister Mayawati said law would take its own course. The Faizabad Additional Commissioner, V.S. Prasad last Friday termed the allotment as an act of forgery.

Not given opportunity

Bachchan said he was not accorded an opportunity of being heard in the matter by the Commissioner's court, which was a gross violation of the principles of justice. — PTI
