Kafeel’s body likely to be handed over next week
Hasan Suroor
LONDON: The body of Kafeel Ahmed, the Indian engineer suspected to have been involved in the failed attack on the Glasgow airport in June, is likely to be handed over to his next-of-kin early next week after a post-mortem establishes the cause of death.
Ahmed, who suffered 90 per cent burns when he drove a flaming jeep into the airport on June 30, died in a hospital in Scotland on Thursday.
A Crown Office spokesperson said that once the cause of death had been “properly established” arrangements would be made to release the body to “the next-of-kin, or other person lawfully entitled to receive them, for disposal.”
There was no confirmation of reports that Ahmed’s family members were en route to Scotland to collect his body.
