KOLKATA: Emphasis on production of special steel and optimising the product-mix has enabled Durgapur Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India Ltd to increase its turnover by 29 per cent and its net profit by 70 per cent during the first quarter of 2007-08. Against a Rs. 623.74 crore profit in the whole of 2006-07, DSP reported a Rs. 220 crore profit between April and June 2007 on a turnover of Rs. 1,009 crore.
