Angad, Amanjyot do well

GURGAON: Angad Cheema and Amanjyot Singh played identical rounds of level-par 72 to be at the top of the leaderboard, after the first round in the LG Northern India amateur golf championship at the Golden Greens Golf and Country Club here on Tuesday.

Amanjyot started badly with a double bogey on the first hole.

But he recovered soon after on the second hole before he had a hat-trick of birdies from the fourth hole onwards.

A struggle

Starting the back nine at two-under, Amanjyot failed to hold on and the good show and bogeyed the 10th and 18th holes for level par.

The trio of Manav Das, Gagan Verma and Karan Vasudeva were tied third at 73 while the duo of Abhishek Jha and Akshay Maliwal were tied sixth.

The results:

Amanjyot Singh and Angad Cheema 72, Gagan Verma, Manav Das and Karan Vasudeva 73, Abhishek Jha and Akshay Maliwal 74, Jasjeet Singh, Mithun Perera, Rashid Khan and Moin Malak 75.
