Sanjay Kolte advances

NEW DELHI: Light-flyweight Sanjay Kolte ensured India’s second medal when he got past fancied Kazakh Zakir Safiulin in the 48kg quarterfinal bout in the Xinjiang International boxing tournament in China on Tuesday.

Kolte scored an emphatic 36-24 win against Safiulin on Tuesday to assure yet another medal, after Jai Bhagwan had made it to the lightweight semifinals on Monday.

Another Indian, Dilbagh Singh lost in quarterfinals to England’s Neil Perkins 17-25.

Manoj will take on Alkelamu Balati of China in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Dinesh, who got a bye into the semifinals, meets another Chinese Lei Yuping. — Principal Correspondent
