Chennai: Rupa Gurunath, with a gross score of 81, was in the lead in the Gold division, on the first day of the South India Ladies Open golf tournament, at the Kodaikanal Golf Club, Kodaikanal.

Day one standings (gross scores): Gold division: 1. Rupa Gurunath (81); 2. Sonam Chugh (82); 3. B. Lalitha, Mani Chander, Gurbani Singh (All 83). Silver division: 1. Gauri Monga (85); 2. Raksha Phadke (87); 3. Dimple Singh Kochar (89). Bronze division: 1. Rita Dogra (102); 2. Mala Raju (112); 3. Vedika Pervez (123).
