CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has ordered notice to the Government on a habeas corpus petition seeking the release of orthopaedic surgeon L. Prakash, who is in jail for offences under the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, Information Technology Act, Arms Act.
A Division Bench issued notice, returnable in two weeks, on the petition filed by Dr. Prakash on Tuesday.
The petitioner submitted that during the trial in Fast Track Court-V here, the investigating officer deposed that he had antedated the additional final report filed before the court. According to the official, the Deputy Director of Prosecution had also antedated and signed in the second additional final report, he said.
