CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said on Tuesday that some political parties, including alliance partners, were threatening the Government the moment it announced a scheme or a project.
Recalling one instance, the Chief Minister said the Tamil Nadu Housing Board had acquired land in Sholinganallur 16 years ago. A political party had announced an agitation plan against this now asking for the lands to be given back after the original owners had been compensated. In such a circumstance, the ruling party, in the interest of maintaining peace in the State, was forced to hang its head and not act. Some parties, were emboldened to do anything and speak as they pleased.
