RAJAPALAYAM: The former vice-chairman of the present Rajapalayam municipal council, A.A. Subbaraja, has been disqualified as councillor after he failed to attend three consecutive council meetings.
The announcements of his disqualification and the post of councillor of ward 1 represented by him falling vacant were made at a council meeting here on Tuesday.
At the meeting, chaired by Chairperson, R. Rathinam, it was announced that Mr. Subbaraja did not participate in the meetings convened in the months of April, May and July. Only on July 19, Mr. Subbaraja lost the post of vice-chairman after a no-confidence vote was passed against him.
He held the post of Municipal Chairman from 1964 till 2006. After the post of chairperson was reserved for women in 2006, he became the vice-chairman.
