CHENNAI: “Nam Nadu” was MGR’s blockbuster movie in 1969. After a gap of 38 years, another Tamil film with the same title, featuring Sarath Kumar, is being shot.
Malayalam actor Karthika is the female lead. Actor Ramesh Kanna has written the dialogues.
The film is produced by Ramesh Babu for Kanakarathna movies.
The film has a strong political flavour. Initially, the name of the protagonist was Azhagiri. But it was subsequently changed to Muthazhagan, who begins his career as a youth wing leader and rises to the level of the Home Minister. His father Nasser is the Education Minister.
The conflict between the two is sure to make for interesting viewing, says an insider.
