TIRUNELVELI: The district secretary of All India Youth Federation, Sudalaimuthu, was murdered by a gang at Veeravanallur near here on Tuesday night.
According to police sources, Ayubh Khan, councillor of Harikesavanallur panchayat, was staging a series of protests against the village panchayat administration, demanding adequate supply of drinking water.

As Mr. Khan was attacked by a gang recently, he, with the help of Mr. Sudalaimuthu, filed a case against the attackers, which led to the arrest of all members of the gang, who were released later.
In this backdrop, Sudalaimuthu and his friend Nagaraj were attacked by a group and Sudalaimuthu died on the spot.
Nagaraj has been admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital.
