Renaming of KPHB Colony defended
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Chairman of the Telangana Regional Development Board V.Purushottam Reddy defended the Government’s move to rename the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony here after Rajiv Gandhi.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Purushottam Reddy said the protests of the Opposition over the matter were ridiculous. Rajiv Gandhi had made a supreme sacrifice by giving up his life for the country and there was nothing wrong in renaming a colony after him.
Mr. Reddy hailed Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s resolve to seek Rs.8,000 crore for the development of Telangana. Recalling his demand for such a fund to develop Telangana, he said the letter written by Dr. Reddy to the Centre in this regard only proved that he was not anti-Telangana. The Chief Minister had always been insisting on developing the region.
