TDP’s appeal to Assembly Speaker

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Legislature Party has appealed to the Assembly Speaker, K. R. Suresh Reddy to convene an all party meeting on illegal mining by Obulapuram Mining Company in Anantapur district and summon officials of all the concerned departments.

At a press conference here on Friday, N. Janardhan Reddy, deputy leader of the party in Assembly and Dadi Veerabhdara Rao, leader of the party in Legislative Council, said the meeting was necessary as all- party legislators visit could not any information with officials remaining tight-lipped.

There was all- round suspicion, as indicated by the letters written by the CPI (M) and CPI floor leaders to the Speaker.

The recent visit had become a farce and there was no fact finding whatsoever, they said. It was unfortunate that the Government was not thinking in terms of either calling for global tenders or raising the royalty and cess to get maximum revenue.
