BDA pulled up for allotting site to student

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday came down heavily on the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) for allotting a site to an 18-year-old student.

When the matter came up, Justice N. Kumar informed the BDA Commissioner, who was present in the court, about the allotment and sought to know how a site could be allotted to a student.

When there were thousands of others who had not been allotted sites even several attempts after they had applied for one, it was a wonder how the student could get a site in the first attempt.

The BDA Commissioner informed the court that he would look into the issue and cancel the allotment if there was anything illegal.

Petition disposed of

Justice Ajit Gungal on Monday disposed of a petition by the State Government against a lower court order of Bijapur confirming the execution proceedings against it.

The State appeal was directed against the claim of Husain Sab, a superintendent at Anjuman Arts, Science and BBM College, Bijapur, seeking Rs. 3. 44 lakh from the college and the Government for not implementing the execution order.

Justice Gunjal accepted the contention of the State and remitted the case back to the Bijapur court to examine who had to pay the money — the State or the institution — and disposed of the case.
