A.P. team didn’t visit Bidar: IGP

GULBARGA: Inspector-General of Police (North-Eastern Range) R.K. Datta on Monday denied reports in a section of the press that a team of Andhra Pradesh police visited Bidar in connection with the twin blasts in Hyderabad on Saturday and picked up three suspects. Talking to The Hindu here, Mr. Datta said that within 15 minutes of the blasts in Hyderabad all roads from Andhra Pradesh to Karnataka in Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur and other parts were sealed and vehicles plying on these roa
ds were thoroughly checked and the visit of any Andhra Pradesh police team to Bidar would have come to the notice of the Karnataka police. Mr. Datta said the State police had stepped up vigil in sensitive areas and strengthened security at vital installations.
Mr. Datta said Additional Superintendent of Police M.N. Nagaraj had held a meeting with theatre owners in Gulbarga city and advised them to take precautionary measures .
