Convict escapes from Kolar jail

KOLAR: A convict escaped from the district sub-jail here on Monday. He has been identified as Shyam alias Shyamraj Reddy (47) of Hoskote.

Shyam had been lodged in the district sub-jail for the past two years. Shyam was convicted in a murder case and was serving a life term. Some cases against him are still pending in a local court.

Shyam reportedly pushed a sentry on duty near the main gate of the sub-jail around 8.10 a.m. when a woman sweeper was entering the jail premises and ran towards a person waiting on a two-wheeler and escaped. The police have launched a manhunt for him.
