ADILABAD: In order to make its point that the soon to be formed panel on land reforms was an example of Government’s insincerity in finding proper solution to the land issue, Communist Party of India activists will exert pressure on committee functionaries at all levels to discharge their duties. “The committee with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as chairman and the regular Revenue staff as members was nothing but old wine in new bottle. It is clear that officials who have already failed to address land problems of the poor are bound to achieve no results when placed on committees like this,” opined CPI State secretary K. Narayana. At a press conference here on Friday the CPI secretary was critical of the Government and said party activists will pressurise the officials in order to bring focus on the issue. Talking upon the Chief Minister’s negation of a land committee comprising of officials and experienced non officials, Mr. Narayana said the party will form a committee on its own comprising of prominent non officials to go into the issue. He said such a committee may not have official sanction but, it will help to bring problems in the limelight that will in turn put pressure on the Government. Under the changing political scenario in the State, the CPI will discuss possibilities of alliances with new partners in future at its Mahasabha at Tirupati slated between December 19 and 23. He said the party could think of forging alliances with new entities.
