BANGALORE: Central Excise logged a 3-1 victory over Indian Air Force (Delhi) in the Synergy Super Division league hockey tournament which commenced here on Saturday. Ajay Aiyappa (17th), Sommaiah (35th) and Kishore (58th) scored for Excise, while Balbir Singh (29th) slotted IAF’s only goal. Earlier, Army Service Corps and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited played out a 3-3 draw. In a hard-fought encounter, Rawa Bhengra (13th) scored first for ASC and Bhim Kumar (14th) nullified the advantage for HAL. Birsa Aind (15th) scored immediately for ASC but Illavarasan (29th) ensured that the teams went into the break at 2-2. Sanjay Tete (57th) took ASC ahead again but veteran Dominic Savio (64th) saved the day for HAL. — Special Correspondent
