MANGALORE: Mohit Kamath defeated S.D.S. Krishna 21-15, 21-18 to enter the final in the men’s singles event of the Dix Shipping Karnataka State Badminton Championship 2007 here on Saturday. He will meet the winner of the second semifinals between M.D. Anup Kiran and V. Amar. Prakash Jolly and Aditya R. Prakash made it to finals in the boy’s event. In the girls’ under-19 singles event, the top two seeds Monisha Vinayak and Ankita Ashoka bowed out in the last four-stage losing to Ashwini Ponappa and V. Ruth Misha respectively. Ankita’s misfortunes continued when she lost to G.M. Nischitha 21-13, 21-19 in the women’s singles quarterfinals. The results: Men’s Singles: Semifinals: Mohit Kamath bt S.D.S. Krishna 21-15, 21-18. Skanda R. Ashwath of Yuvaraj’s College (Mysore) and Yashika Mohan of SBRR Mahajana FGC won the individual titles in the men’s and women’s sections respectively in the Mysore City Inter-collegiate swimming competitions 2007, held at the University swimming pool, Mysore, on Saturday. Skanda won seven golds and a silver, which helped Yuvaraj’s College bag the overall championship title with 44 points. Shreyank P. Swamy of Raghavendra Gurukula won three golds and two bronze medals, while J. Sumanth of SJCE, Mysore won two golds, two silver and a bronze medal. In the women’s section, Yashika won six golds. J. Prathiksha of VVCE, Mysore also impressed with a haul of four golds and one silver medal.
