20 judokas selected

VIJAYAWADA: Twenty judokas from Krishna district have been selected to take part in the AP junior inter-district championship to he held at Warangal from September 7 to 9, according to KDJA secretary Venkat.

The judokas were selected at the conclusion of the district championship-cum-selection trials held at the IGMC stadium on Saturday.

The results: Boys: Under-17: 45-kg: J. Baig, K. Sai Siva Ramakrishna; 50-kg: Mohammad Ali, M. Sandeep Reddy; 55-kg: L. Surendra; 60-kg: R. Prudhvi Raj, Premji Nalladi; Plus 60kg: Rajesh Chandrakanth.

Under-20: 56-kg: K. Rajesh, K. Venkateswara Rao; 60-kg: M. Narendra Kumar; 66-kg: N. Pramod; 73-kg: U. Vijay Kumar; Plus 81 kg: S. Venkatesh.

Girls: Under-17: 40-kg: Nagamani, Priyanka; 44-kg: Sharan Wesley; 48-kg: T. Hema Rani; 52-kg: N. Snehitha.
Pat for Ashok

Regional Deputy Director (SAAP) G. Chinnaiah, District Sports Development Officer B. Sudhakar and district coaches on Saturday visited Grandmaster’s Humpy residence to congratulate her father-cum-coach Koneru Ashok, the recipient of the Dronacharya award.

The District Sports Authority is also planning to felicitate Ashok.
KDCA trials

Trials to select the Krishna District Cricket Association’s under-17 team, scheduled to be held on Sunday at the IGMC stadium, has been postponed to September 9 due to incessant rains, said KDCA secretary K. Ramesh here on Saturday.
