Congress accused of ignoring people’s problems ’Government helping rich and sacrificing interests of poor’
ADILABAD: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Kadiam Srihari on Monday predicted that his party would come into power in the next Assembly elections. He said: “Once party president N. Chandrababu Naidu becomes the Chief Minister, the TDP will address people’s problems.” Mr. Srihari was the chief guest and observer at the party’s Adilabad district committee’s extended meeting and swearing in of its office-bearers and those of its affiliated organisations. Suddala Devaiah, TDP, executive committee secretary and G. Kamalakar, in charge of Adilabad Parliamentary constituency, were also present as observers. The general secretary exhorted party activists to reach out to people in their respective areas during the month-long ‘Palle Palle Ki Telugu Desam’ mass contact programme beginning on September 6 and know people’s problems so that they could be addressed when the TDP came to power. Mr. Srihari said the Congress had ignored people’s problems despite its mass contact programmes like ‘Palle Baata’ and ‘Nagara Baata’. People were waiting to throw the Congress out of power, he said. He also accused the Congress Government of gross misrule and castigated its leaders, including the Chief Minister, for promoting nepotism. He cited several instances to substantiate his contention that the State Government was helping rich people while sacrificing the interests of poor people. TDP district president Gone Hanmanth Rao, spokesman S. Venugopalachary, Adilabad Zilla Parishad Chairman Rathod Ramesh, Telugu Mahila president G. Sujata and others were present.
