HYDERBAD: Traffic on the busy Lakdikapul route went haywire on Monday after activists of the Communist Party of India formed a human chain around RR district Collectorate demanding distribution of land to the poor. The protestors later presented a memorandum to District Collector Praveen Prakash and sought a special meeting to discuss the issue.
In a press release issued here on Monday, the CPI said their call for the protest had people participating in large numbers from the district who formed the human chain without causing any inconvenience to the traffic flow. A meeting addressed by the leaders including party district secretary N. Bala Mallesh was later held besides the Collector office.
The party leaders including Chada Venkatreddy and J. Wilson also addressed the gathering and criticised the Government for its failure to provide land sites to the poor. Since there was no response to their demand in the last six months, the party was forced to organise the agitation at the Collector office, they added.
