Five TDP men hurt in attack

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: Five TDP activists, including an MPTC member, were injured when they were attacked allegedly by Congress activists in Chandrababu Naidu kottala on the outskirts of the town on Monday evening. The injured were admitted to the general hospital.

In a complaint lodged with the police, TDP activists led by MPTC member Venkatesh, alleged that the Congress activists had been attacking them repeatedly after the last local bodies’ elections in June 2006. Repeated complaints to the police had fallen on deaf ears as no action was taken against the Congress activists. A group of Congress activists entered into an altercation with the TDP activists led by Mr. Venkatesh and later attacked the latter with sticks. “The Congress activists had threatened me against contesting the election and when I won with 83 votes they started pestering us,” he said.
