BAKU: Junior Indian boxers Vipin Kumar, Pramod Kumar and Vankala Durgarao powered their way into the quarterfinals scoring impressive wins at the World Cadet boxing championship in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Vipin Kumar (50kg) defeated favourite Farson Chulibayev of Russia 21-9 in the second round on Sunday. In the quarterfinals, Vipin, the YMCA international gold medallist, will meet Ukraine’s Borys Storoznenko, a 34-19 victor over Topmike Kotrikadze of Georgia.
In the 52kg category, Pramod Kumar defeated Timacoy Williams of Australia 15-7, while Vankala Durgarao defeated Kristian Nagy of Hungary 20-9 in the 54kg pre-quarterfinal bout.
