BANGALORE: Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party top brass has decided to keep silence on the criticism launched against it by the Janata Dal (S), the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha on Thursday took serious exception to the attack and publicly made known its displeasure over such a trend. Addressing presspersons here, BJP Yuva Morcha president Girish Mattennavar ridiculed Janata Dal (S) State president and former Minister Merajuddin Patel and Janata Dal (S) Youth wing president Arvind Dalwai for criticising the BJP soon after taking charge of their new political responsibilities. “It only shows the ‘ji huzoor’ attitude adopted by them to please their political bosses especially Janata Dal (S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda,” he remarked. Charging Mr. Dalwai with transgressing his limits, Mr. Mr. Mattennavar said, “today’s youth want their leader to be a dignified person and not a ‘ji huzoor’ man who stoops down to any level to please his poli tical boss.” Referring to Mr. Dalwai’s criticism against Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and the alleged efforts by the BJP to rope in religious heads to bring pressure for transfer of power, Mr. Mr. Mattennavar wondered, “Is Mr. Dalwai the president of the JD (S) youth wing or president of the coordination committee of the coalition partners? Mr. Dalwai should understand his limits. These are the issues that have to be tackled by top leaders and not a youth wing chief.” Mr. Mattennavar asked Mr. Dalwai to desist from criticising the top leaders of the BJP and instead join hands with the coalition partner to serve the poor. Comparison
Mr. Mattennavar compared the present political scenario in the State to that of the sixth one-day international cricket match between India and England which was played on Wednesday. The BJP leader made the comparison while commenting on the claims of Mr. Merajuddin Patel that the Bhagyalakshmi and Bicycle schemes were that of the Janata Dal (S). “In Wednesday’s match, Sachin Tendulkar laid the foundation for the sensational Indian victory by scoring 94 runs and was even declared man of the match. On the other hand, team captain Rahul Dravid scored only four runs. But still the credit for the team’s victory goes to him as he is the leader.” In the same way, Mr. Yediyurappa was like Tendulkar as he was scoring a series of positives for the Government with innovative schemes. But Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy would get the credit for this as he was the head of the Government, he said but hastened to add that some of the schemes initiated by Mr. Kumaraswamy, especially the village stays, had become a hit among people.
