BANGALORE: Taking to task the officials of the Revenue Department for their lax attitude while dealing with acquisition proceedings, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the Principal Revenue Secretary to be present before the court on September 11. Justice N. Kumar, who passed the order, said he wanted the Revenue Secretary to explain why the acquisition proceedings for lands at Byatarayanapura were given up and a second notification issued acquiring the lands. Justice Kumar said though he had asked the officials concerned to explain the lapse. He noted that on August 22, 2007, the Deputy Commissioner was present in court to explain the acquisition proceedings. However, he had not been able to satisfy the court on why the lands were sought to be acquired again. Costs
Justice N. Kumar on Thursday levied costs of Rs. 20,000 on Praveen Kumar, Prakash and others challenging the acquisition of their lands for the formation of the Visveshavaraih Layout. They had said that though a single judge had dismissed their petitions, a Division Bench had disposed off the appeals by asking the BDA to give them an opportunity of hearing before taking a decision. File report
Justice Rammohan Reddy directed the State Government to inform the court on its proposed action against Government doctors who falsely signed wound certificates for motor vehicle claims.
