The event is part of inter-State cultural exchange programme BHUBANESWAR: A 100-member delegation of performing artistes and film personalities led by Information and Public Relations Minister Debasis Nayak have left for Chennai to participate in the festival of Oriya cinema and culture there commencing on Saturday. The festival is being hosted by the I&PR Department as part of the Government’s inter-State cultural exchange programme. Oriya Association of Madras is collaborating in it. The films scheduled to be screened in the festival, include this year’s national film award winner ‘Kathantar’ directed by Himanshu Khatua, Sabyasachi Mohapatra’s multi-lingual film "Jai Jagannath" and Gadadhar Puty directed ‘Pujapaine phulatiea’. Khatua, Mohapatra and Puty along with actors Sritam Das, Pintu Nanda, Kajol Mishra and Leslie Tripathy joined the delegation. The show will include Odissi dance by Pushpita Mishra and her troupe, Sambalpuri dance , Chhau dance of Mayurbhanj, Ghumura dance of Kalahandi, Ghoda nacha of Choudwar, Danda nacha of Ganjam and the highly acrobatic Gotipua dance of Raghurajpur. Similar festivals have already been hosted by the government at Tiruvananthapuram, Goa and Bangalore.
