Budhia Singh with his mother. Bhubaneswar: The State government today decided to provide accommodation for wonder marathon kid Budhia Singh at the sports hostel here, who had been running from pillar to post to get a shelter after he separated from his trainer Biranchi Das in July. Now the six-year-old boy could get an accommodation at the state run sports hostel, special health care facility, security and other amenities with government making amendments in the provisions of the sports hostel. Official sources said chief minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal on the wonder kid which was earlier submitted by the Women and Child Development department. “We have already made changes in the norm and this would be applicable only for Budhia because he is a special child”, said Women and Child Development Minister Pramilla Mallick. According to the Minister, a person below 12 years could not get accommodation in the sports hostel. “Looking at the situation under which Budhia had been passing, the government agreed to bend rules,” she said adding that the boy would come to the sports hostel. Official sources said that the government was likely to notify Budhia’s entry into sports hostel in a day or two. The director of the Sports department N P Das, however, pointed out that though Budhia’s mother Sukanti Singh had verbally agreed to allow her son’s stay in the sports hostel, she would have to give written consent in this regard. - PTI
