Eye catching: Siddhant displaying his creations

BHUBANESWAR: At the sprawling Exhibition grounds in the heart of the city, an exclusive exhibition of art and crafts on Lord Ganesh . But the beeline of the connoisseurs is towards the congested chambers of the Orissa Modern Art Gallery here where a 14-year-old boy is hosting an exhibition of paintings and terracotta on the same theme.

‘Incredible’, was the unanimous response of the visitors to the exhibition - Ganesh, the muse of creativity - put up by Siddhant Das, a ninth standard student of the Loyola School. “This gallery has hosted scores of such shows by children during its six years of life. But I had never come across such a promising prodigy,” remarked gallery director and graphic artist Mr.Tarakant Parida.

It is difficult to believe that the tender hands of a teenager have created such works of maturity, observed eminent painter Mr.Siba Panigrahi who inaugurated the show. “Siddhant has shown mastery over two mediums- painting and terracotta,” he pointed out. “He is a gifted talent and full of promises,” acknowledged Siddhant’s art teacher Mr.Jayant Ojha. “Somehow finds time for his first love,” revealed his mother Sujata Das.
