Chennai: Actor Vijaya Kumar will soon turn producer.

He has decided to help his son and actor Arun Vijay by producing two films a year, one of which would star Arun Vijay.

“I have acted in nearly 400 films, and as hero I have acted in some of the best films,” Vijaya Kumar said, mentioning ‘Ponnukku Thanga Manasu’ (directed by Madhavan) ‘Madura Geetham’ (directed by V.C. Guhanathan), ‘Azhage Unnai Aradhikkerain’ (directed by Sridhar).

His performance in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Agni Nakshathiram’ is his favourite character role.

It was the first film in which I played the father of two top heroes – Karthik and Prabhu, the versatile actor Vijaya kumar said.

Arun Vijay considers himself “fortunate” for the opportunity his father has decided to give him. “Only his name made me a star, and I am happy to act in whatever film he produces.”

Arun is awaiting the release of his new film ‘Thavam’, produced by actor Arjun. He is acting in ‘Vedha’, which stars Sheila as the heroine.
