Arianespace, ISRO to bid for small satellites’ launch
HYDERABAD: Arianespace, the commercial launch services company and the Indian Space Research Organisation would bid contracts for launching small satellites into low earth orbit.
This was informed to newsmen by Arianespace company’s CEO Jean-Yves le Gall on the sidelines of the 58th International Astronautical Congress here on Wednesday. He said that Arianespace would find potential customers to fly small satellites on PSLV from Sriharikota. PSLV is now a qualified commercial launch vehicle for small satellites, he added.
Major player
Stating that India was a major player in space activity, he expressed confidence that the long-standing cooperation between ISRO and his organisation would expand further in the coming years. So far Arianespace had launched 13 INSAT series of satellites during the last 25 years and earned $ 60 to $ 100 million last year through Indian launches. It had scheduled six launches this year through Ariane-5 to put 12 satellites into the orbit. 2009.
