CHENNAI: The detection of a bandicoot inside a Port Blair-bound aircraft forced authorities to cancel the flight on Tuesday.
According to Chennai Airport sources, ground support staff, who noticed the bandicoot, informed the authorities concerned. The Indian flight (IC-549) was to take off at 5.30 a.m. but was cancelled as the rodent could not be trapped immediately.
The authorities later sprayed disinfectant inside the aircraft and trapped the bandicoot.
The stranded passengers were provided accommodation and would be put on the next flight, scheduled to leave on Thursday morning, said the airline authorities.
