HYDERABAD: The State Government has decided to ignore the AP Olympic Association’s report submitted to it on the alleged fake certificates and conduct its own theory and practical tests to authenticate the veracity of the six throw ball players in question in connection with the scrutiny of certificates for admission to professional courses under sports quota. Vikas Raj, SAAP VC & MD, informed the media here on Wednesday that they would abide strictly by the Government Order and would not go into what the APOA had said on the subject. “We will go as per the priority list in the GO. And definitely, we will have our own mechanism to judge whether the particular candidate had the necessary qualifications or not,” he pointed out. UnrecognisedThe APOA had submitted in its enquiry report that six throwball players were found to possess certificates of participation in the Singapore Asian tournament which was not actually a recognised event as per the IOA norms and hence the certificates should be ignored. “In fact, we have called only those candidates who were there in the provisional list under sports quota for counselling and scrutiny of certificates today. But because of some misunderstanding, all those vying under this quota turned up today creating some confusion,” Vikas Raj explained. “The process should be completed in a day or two and the nine medical seats under sports quota taking into all the rules and regulations will be duly filled,” he said. Record to be examinedP.Chinnappa Reddy, Advisor to State Government (Sports & Physical Education), said that the SAAP would recognise those who went on the approval of Union Sports Ministry for the Singapore tournament but would take all precautions to weed out the alleged ‘fake certificate’ holders by going through their past record in the State-level and national events before going to the event. “We will have our own tests to identify the culprits,” he asserted.
